Chaotic wrestling comedy gameshow captivates Edinburgh audiences with biggest-ever audiences
EDINBURGH, August 2025 – FistyMania, the wrestling-themed comedy gameshow from the creators of award-winning podcast Wrestling With the Champ, has successfully concluded its Edinburgh Fringe run with PBH Free Fringe.
While hundreds of thousands flocked to Murrayfield for Oasis, FistyMania offered an alternative for those seeking more intimate and interactive entertainment at the Fringe. With an average of 8 out of 10 seats filled across the 10-night run, the show demonstrated consistent audience appeal for festival-goers who wanted a high-octane party vibe in a no-nonsense pub setting.
"The best thing I've seen at Edinburgh Fringe in ten years!" – Audience review
"I have no idea about wrestling but I had a whale of a time" - Audience review
"Great fun, great entertainment, highly recommended!" - Audience review
The interactive format generated strong audience participation, with host Damien St John's improvisational compering style creating an unscripted atmosphere. The show's main draw was the charismatic Ginger Ninja (Ant McGinley), easily spotted on the Royal Mile in his distinctive gold leotard and bejewelled Pub Wrestling Championship belt.
"Just like our podcast, FistyMania is the funniest ride in wrestling," said McGinley. "Imagine a fast-paced rollercoaster that's falling apart at the same time. We're not everyone's cup of tea. We're deliberately loud, messy, chaotic and unpredictable but we always cross the finish line by the seat of our spandex."
Guest comedians during the run included Che Burnley, Lucha DS, Mark Henley, Nick Everritt, Sofia May, and Stephen Catling, each bringing their own personalities to ensure variety across performances.
See FistyMania at the Cheerful Earful podcast festival in London on October 18th. Tickets from £5. More information.
